| Television's No. 1 new drama, The Good Doctor, has been given a full-season order, Channing Dungey, president, ABC Entertainment, said today.
"We are thrilled to announce that we are giving our viewers additional episodes of The Good Doctor," said Channing Dungey, president, ABC Entertainment. "We have an amazing team in front of and behind the camera, led by Freddie Highmore's incredibly nuanced performance as Dr. Shaun Murphy, and we're confident the show will continue to captivate our audience."
Season to date, The Good Doctor ranks as Monday's No. 1 drama broadcast show in Adults 18-49 and in Total Viewers, improving the 10 o'clock hour for ABC by 50%. The new ABC drama is also the biggest gainer in TV playback, with its debut telecast jumping by 5.5 million viewers making it the biggest debut for any new series on any network in 3 years. After 3 days of TV playback, ABC's new drama grew to 16.9 million Total Viewers from the 11.4 million in Live + Same Day and a 3.7 rating with Adults 18-49 from a 2.2 in Live + Same Day.
The Good Doctor is about Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, who relocates from a quiet country life to join the prestigious St. Bonaventure hospital's surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, his only advocate, Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff), challenges the skepticism and prejudices of the hospital's board and staff when he brings him in to join the team. Shaun will need to work harder than he ever has before, as he navigates his new environment and relationships to prove to his colleagues that his extraordinary medical gifts will save lives.
"The Good Doctor" airs Mondays at 10:00 p.m. ET on The ABC Television Network.
The series stars Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, Antonia Thomas as Dr. Claire Browne, Nicholas Gonzalez as Dr. Neil Melendez, Chuku Modu as Dr. Jared Kalu, Beau Garrett as Jessica Preston, Hill Harper as Dr. Marcus Andrews, Richard Schiff as Dr. Aaron Glassman and Tamlyn Tomita as Allegra Aoki.
The series is from Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios. David Shore is writer and executive producer. Daniel Dae Kim, David Kim and Sebastian Lee are also executive producers. ____________________
Anyone watch?
I am addicted to the series, because of Freddie Highmore. I think he's brilliant in the role of a young surgeon battling the effects of autism and savant syndrome. I first saw Freddie as a young boy in AUGUST RUSH the movie and he was brilliant in that as well.

| They just showed the last episode here last night but I have not watched it yet. I wait till my son gives me the full series before I watch as I'm sick and tired of all the ads throughout tv shows. |

| We are still only on episode 5 coming up this week. I really love this show.
Normally I record a whole series of each show before watching them one after the other, but this is one that I can't wait to see each next new one. So I'm watching as it's televised. |

| The finale is something else and wait until you see it!!!!!!! I'm glad you two get to watch it. I don't usually care to watch medical series but this one is so unique with the "autism" story line. |

| I love watching medical shows I guess because my background is in the medical field and alternative healing areas. |

| I'm the same Dazzal. I will never watch a medical programme, but this one really caught my interest when they first advertised it. Autism has fascinated me for many years because it's more of interest due to how the brain works rather than medical.
When I used to run a seafront cafe many years ago we used to have a chap that brought in a small group (5 or 6) of autistic kids once a week in our quiet periods to learn how to cope in society. One in particular used to make me chuckle. He always had to sit in the same seat.
One time he came in and someone was in "his" seat. He simply stood quietly beside that table looking at the wall waiting to sit there. The helper finally managed to get him to sit next to him at another table. This was all done very quietly, no fuss. But you could see how uncomfortable he was not being in his usual place.
The same boy used to follow me with his eyes, watching everything I was doing and listening to me when I talked, but would never look into my eyes. He seemed fascinated by me. I could never get him to speak to me. He would always tell the helper and have it relayed to me. The one day he finally looked me in the eye as I smiled at him. It was the quickest of glances, but he did it.
There are so many different degrees of autism. |

| I love learning about alternative healing as well Martha. I do a lot of holistic things for my pets and much of it works; some do not. I do a kidney/liver cleanse for the dogs every 6 mos. and it certainly boosts their energy level. I also give them silver everyday.
Sandy, that's an interesting experience you had with that young man. |

| We had 2 autistic kids in our village when I was little and they just belonged like all of us. I learned very young that their brain is brilliant! They are more sensitive and don't know how to channel that, which is what causes a lot of their outbursts. Dazzal I use herbs, crystals and essential oils daily and just love it. I'm working on a section about those by the way; hoping to have more time soon to get stuck in. Another really good one to use for both humans and animals is Turmeric Just make sure you follow instructions as Turmeric is strong. Oh and use gloves if you don't fancy getting orange fingers. |

I use Young Living Oils for me and the dogs. I have Turmeric as well, but it stains. Have to be really careful with it. |

| I use locally made essential oils as I try and stay clear of any MLM businesses; purely because of the prices being so much higher.
I have friends who sell Young Living Oils and also the other one; forgot the name now lol. Their biggest rival. |

| I know the prices are high. I distribute as well, but the oils last me a long time. I love the Lavender Shampoo, and best I have ever used. |

| Hi Martha and everyone. Our Freddie Highmore did NOT win Best Actor for the show. I was disappointed because I really felt he deserved it. It went to the black actor (can't remember his actor name) for THIS IS US. The actor is good on "This Is Us" but I felt not as good as Freddie's character. I know the race card seems to come out a lot at the awards shows. |

| I agree with you and especially from such a young actor; having to portray an Autistic person is not a small feat at all. |

| I do like watching medical shows so I have no doubt this one will be good.
Seeing as I have to rest my shoulder for a few days over this long weekend I might see if I can watch it on Netflix here. |
